The Michigan Lottery was established via a constitutional amendment, approved by voters on May 16, 1972. The first ticket, a 50 cent "green" ticket went on sale Nov. 13, 1972, followed by instant lottery tickets on Oct. 7, 1975. The first online game, The Daily Game, was sold from terminals at retailers beginning on June 7th, 1976. The Michigan Lotto game was introduced on Aug. 13 1984 with michigan lottery results featuring the first Lotto drawing on Aug. 25, 1983. On Aug. 31st, 2002 the multi-state Big Game Lotto goes on sale, renamed on May 15th, 2002 to michigan Mega Millions. Thru 2005, the michigan lottery numbers show sales of $34.15 billion, paying prizes of $17.9 billion and providing $12.9 billion in school funding.
